In the significant step towards improving road safety and to reduce traffic congestion, the UAE authorities have announced a truck ban on a section of Emirates road between Al Awir Street and Sharjah during evening peak hours Specially from 5:30pm to 8:00pm, starting from January 1st 2025. This is part to ensure the safety of all road users, particularly in the rush hours when the road traffic is at its highest. Objective of the ban The primary aim of this truck ban is to reduce accidents and improve the efficient traffic flow. Trucks, due to their larger size and slower speed create a bottleneck in the roads, especially during peak hours. By restricting their movement during peak hours, the authorities aim to minimize the chances of accidents that involve smaller cars and heavy vehicles.
